We configure every backup to use the Australian data region by default. Your M365 mailboxes, SharePoint sites, Teams chats and OneDrive files are stored on infrastructure physically located in Australia — not shipped to a US or European data centre.

The shared responsibility gap

Common questions
Doesn't Microsoft already back up my data?
No. Microsoft operates a shared responsibility model — they keep the platform running, but recovery of your data is your responsibility. Native M365 retention is limited (30–93 days for most data types) and won't help with ransomware, malicious deletion by an insider, or a misconfigured retention policy. Google Workspace operates the same way. Independent third-party backup is what fills that gap.
Where is my data stored?
By default we configure your backup to use the Australian data region — your data is hosted on infrastructure physically located in Australia. Note: this is data residency, not sovereign cloud in the strict legal sense (the underlying infrastructure is provided by a major US-headquartered cloud provider, so the US CLOUD Act applies). For strict sovereign requirements, talk to us about a tailored configuration with bring-your-own encryption keys.

Either way, no software to install.
Is there a minimum or contract?
Minimum 5 users for M365 or Google Workspace. Month-to-month billing, cancel any time, no lock-in. If you cancel, your backup data stays in archived state — restorable for as long as you keep the account active, and exportable in standard formats (PST, MBOX, EML, DOCX).

Yes. The underlying platform is SOC 2 audited, GDPR and HIPAA compliant, runs on infrastructure with ISO 27001 and PCI DSS Level 1 accreditations. AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.2 in transit.
